My New Crochet Blog on WordPress dot org Is Almost Ready

I have spent the past month getting my new crochet blog on WordPress.org in shape. The major task of re-inserting all the photos in a larger size, so they fill the column, is done. I only have a few more tasks to complete so I will probably be shutting down this blog in a week or so. I’ll still have a final post alerting people where the new blog is, but I will be deleting all the other posts here. But don’t worry, they have all been moved to the new blog so you won’t miss anything. The only thing that won’t be moved are a few comments that people made after the blog was migrated to WordPress.org in late July, early August.

If you want to take a look at the new blog, you can find it here. It looks pretty much like this one but that may not last. I will probably change the theme if I can find a good “free” one.

Migrating My Crochet Blog to WordPress.org Soon

I can’t believe I’m doing it again, but I will probably be moving my blog to the self-hosted, WordPress.org platform in a couple of weeks.

A good friend and IT professional, William Knight (aka Billy Zane – he’s a DJ, too), is helping me do it for a very good price. And I want to get it done before the Mercury retrograde next month, so it is happening sooner than I thought.

I will give you all advance notice of when the site goes live, so don’t worry about not being able to find me. That also means that I probably won’t be doing any more blog posting until I make the move, other than to let you know when it happens.

It’s another labor-intensive process (but not nearly as time-consuming as the photo re-insertion was) so nothing will be happening for another couple of weeks. Wish me luck!

UPDATE 8/9/11

As you can see, the Mercury retrograde is in full swing, and I haven’t completed the move to my WordPress.org site yet. It is coming together very nicely, but Billy  is researching a way to get all the media (photos and PDF files) moved without my having to upload them into the dot org media library and then insert them into the relevant posts (been there, done that!).

But I wanted to let you know where things stand and to also say that even when I do make the move, the blog will be a work in progress as I experiment with the best plug-ins, widgets, etc. to make it as fully functional as possible.
